This is the first course of the Erasmus+ KA2 project LaserFusion– Innovative Education & Training in Laser Inertial Fusion Energy (ID: 2024-1-EL01-KA220-HED-000249775)

It provides comprehensive theoretical and practical training in plasma physics and its applications to high-power laser–matter interactions and Inertial Confinement Fusion (ICF).

The course covers fundamental plasma principles, hydrodynamic and kinetic descriptions, laser–plasma interaction mechanisms, advanced diagnostic techniques, and the physical processes underlying inertial fusion energy. The course is structured into five thematic modules followed by a practical training section combining experimental and modelling activities.

Designed for MSc students, PhD candidates, and early-career researchers, the course offers a rigorous and interdisciplinary learning experience aligned with current developments in high-energy-density physics and laser fusion research.
